If you do not receive an authentication code, please check the following:
・You can receive emails from the ndl.go.jp domain
・The email has not been filtered into your spam folder
・You entered your email address correctly.

You will not receive an authentication code if the password you entered is incorrect.
To reset your password, select A1. Reset Password.

If you have forgotten or wish to update your registered email address, select A2. I want to update my registered email address / I forget my registered email address.

If you forgot both your password and email address, select A3. I forgot both password and my registered email address.

If you forget your password, you can reset it via NDL search. Have your user ID and email address ready and click the Forgot Your Password? button at the center of the Login dialog to display the Reset password dialog.

【Official registered users residing in Japan】
Official registered users residing in Japan can receive an authentication code via automated voice call that will allow them to log in and change their registered email address or register a new one.
To receive an authentication code via automated voice call, select C1. To update my registered email address, listen for the authentication code via automated voice call.
If you are still unable to log on even after receiving an authentication code, select C2. Check other methods.

【Simple registered users or users residing outside Japan】

Phone-based authentication code notifications are available only to official registered users residing in Japan. Simple registered users or users residing outside Japan are not eligible. Select C2. Check other methods.

Please follow these steps to complete phone verification:
① Enter your user ID and password in the login dialog.
② Click the link at the bottom of the verification code entry screen that says:
If you do not have an email address, please check for alternative authentication methods.
③ Enter your registered phone number.
④ We will send an authentication code via automated voice call to the phone number you registered. The automated voice call will be in Japanese.

Please log in using the User ID listed on your registered user card.
To log in, select F1. Log In.
User ID of the National Diet Library is valid for three years from the date of registration. Each time you use the NDL's services, the validity period will be automatically extended to three years after the date you use them. After three years have passed from either the date of user registration, the last time you entered the NDL (either the Tokyo Main Library or the Kansai-kan), or the last time you logged into NDL web services by entering your User ID and password, your user information will expire.
If your user registration has expired, it will be necessary to re-register as a new user.
To register as a new user, select F2. Register as a new user.
If you are sure that you have a valid User ID but cannot remember it,
we will resend your User ID. Please select F3. Request Resend User ID.

Please verify that your User ID and password have been entered correctly.

Phone-based authentication code notifications are available only to official registered users residing in Japan. An official registered user is one who has completed the process for full registration and possess a valid registered user card.
If you have completed the registration process but have not received a call, you might have entered a phone number that differs from the one you registered. Please check the phone number you entered.

And we only support phone numbers within Japan. We cannot call phone numbers in countries outside Japan.

To change your registered phone number, select H1. Change registered phone number.

If you have registered a valid email address, you can have the verification code sent to that email address. Select H2. Try email verification.

Phone-based authentication code notifications are available only to official registered users. Simple registered users are not eligible. A simple registered user is one who has either not applied for full registration or has applied but not yet completed the process to become an official registered user. Select H3. I’m a simple registered user.​​​​​​​

By registering a valid email address, you can have the verification code sent to that email address. Please select one of the following options based on your situation.
If you have not yet registered an email address but wish to do so, select K1. Register an email address.
If you wish to update your registered email address or have forgotten your registered email address, select K2. I want to update my registered email address / I forget my registered email address.
If authentication still fails after trying the above steps, select K3. Unable to log in.

Phone-based authentication code notifications are available only to official registered users. Simple registered users (individuals who have not applied for full registration or individuals who have applied for full registration but have not completed the process) are not eligible.
If you are unable to log in, please try resetting your password.
To update the email address where you receive the authentication code, select L1. Update email address.
If authentication still fails after trying the above steps, select L2. Unable to log in.

If the User ID and password you entered are correct, but you cannot log in, perhaps the authentication code you entered is incorrect. Select M1. Resend the authentication code and try logging in again.

User registration is required to use NDL facilities.
Irrespective of whether you apply to be an official registered user or a simple registered user, you may only obtain one User ID. When creating an account, please be sure that you do not already have an existing User ID.
If you are aware of a valid user ID registration but cannot recall it,
apply to have your ID resent by entering the registered information in the Application form for resending registered user ID number (Japanese only).

After logging in, please access the Review or update user information page to change your registered email address.

National Diet Library, Japan: Your application for official user registration has been received and you have been granted simple user registration status.

If you are aware of a valid user ID registration but cannot recall it, we will resend your user ID. Click the Go to Form button below and enter the required information into the form (Japanese only).
To enable you to change your user information yourself, we will set up your account so that you can log in simply by entering your User ID and password.
Please enter the required information in the inquiry form and submit it.

Please wait at least three business days after making your request, then enter your User ID and password in the login dialog and change your user information by yourself no more than two weeks after making your request.

※After two weeks, authentication using an authentication code will be required again.
Logging in without using an authentication code creates a security vulnerability, so please change your password to a complex one that is difficult to guess.
